Hear Our Voices | 2020/2021 + the Impact of Athlete Activism

S2|E1: Hear Our Voices | 2020/2021 + the Impact of Athlete Activism

A year has passed since the Athletes’ Voices Speaker Series (formerly Pitch for Change) launched with a look at the history of sports elevating social justice, social impact and philanthropic discussions. One year later, where do we stand? How did athletes' factor into conversations surrounding the tumultuous events of 2020/2021 - a global pandemic, racial reckoning, political upheaval, economic instability, educational disruption, increased wealth inequity and more? And what does the road ahead look like as we move towards the end of 2021?

In collaboration with Athletes’ Voices founding partner, the Walton Family Foundation (WFF), moderator Caryl Stern - Executive Director of WFF and former CEO of UNICEF USA - will lead a lively conversation with athletes, thought leaders and academics to examine the pivotal role sports, athletes and their critics played in the politics and policies of 2020/2021.
